Antibiotic Stewardship in Small Ruminants

On Demand

Sheep and goats can vary greatly in their use and purpose by owners and treatment and education varies equally. This can cause problems when it comes to administering antibiotics effectively. One challenge is there are only three antimicrobial drugs labeled for use for small ruminants which means extra-label drug use (ELDU) is common. This course will review and discuss how to apply the guidelines provided by the Animal Medicine Drug Use Clarification Act (AMDUCA)  for appropriate extra-label drug use with a focus on antibiotics.
